Directed by Robert Thom, 1969, 93 min.
Total proto-Hairspray, an almost impossible to see painterly cult movie from 1969. Holly Near plays a chubby rich girl who falls in love with a rock lizard named Bogie and joins his gang. Roddy McDowall is also a member of this rock cult that performs forest rituals, spouts inane things from the ceiling, and skydives in tandem. Also with Jennifer Jones as the pill-popping mama in sheer chiffon and pearls.

Galt MacDermot is the iconic composer of the musical Hair, whose prolific career includes film scores, opera, and jazz classics. The film traces Galt's childhood in Montreal and the origins of his distinctive musical style, which incorporates elements of gospel, jazz, reggae, and African rhythms.

Gravedigger Jones and Coffin Ed Johnson are two black cops with a reputation for breaking the odd head. Both are annoyed at the success of the Reverend Deke O'Mailey who is selling trips back to Africa for the poor on the installment plan. When his truck is hijacked and a bale of cotton stuffed with money is lost in the chase, Harlem is turned upside down by Gravedigger and Coffin Ed, the Reverend, and the hijackers.
